LEVERHULME TRUST - VISITING PROFESSORSHIPS
Up to £150,000 For UK higher education institutions wishing to invite distinguished international researchers to the UK for collaborative research, teaching, and academic exchange. The scheme supports visiting professorships across all academic disciplines. Aim: of the programme is to strengthen international academic collaboration, support intellectual exchange, and enhance the research environment within UK universities through engagement with leading international scholars.
CANADA–UKRAINE FOUNDATION - Project-based funding (amount varies)
For organisations, community groups, researchers, and initiatives supporting displaced persons and preserving the experiences, histories, and contributions of displaced communities. The programme supports projects related to documentation, education, cultural preservation, community engagement, and public awareness. Aim: to preserve the legacy and experiences of displaced persons, support community-based initiatives, and strengthen awareness, inclusion, and long-term engagement through collaborative projects.
Hans Böckler Foundation – International Scholarships
Monthly scholarship (aligned with German doctoral/postdoctoral funding rates) plus additional allowances (e.g. family, travel, health insurance) For doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, particularly those whose work focuses on labour relations, social justice, democracy, inequality, and socio-economic transformation. Aim: to promote socially relevant research, support early-career researchers, and strengthen international academic exchange
Scheme 5: Collaborations with Developing Countries - success rate 2023/24: 67% (MATHEMATICS, Mathematical aspects of Computing)
£3,000 For researchers in the mathematical sciences and support collaborative research activities within the UK and internationally. The grants fund activities such as research visits, workshops, meetings, and short collaborative projects, with the aim of strengthening mathematical collaborations and supporting the development of high-quality joint research. Deadline: 15 September (3 deadlines per year)
International Exchanges (STEM - natural sciences, including biological research, biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, and physics)
£12,000 For UK-based researchers who wish to collaborate with international research partners. The scheme provides funding for short research visits, exchanges, and networking activities between the UK and partner countries. Aim: to support the development of long-term international research collaborations, enable knowledge exchange, and lay the foundations for future joint research projects and funding applications. Deadline: 24 September 2026 (3 deadlines per year)
Travelling Fellowship (BiOLOGY)
£3,000 Description: For early-career researchers (PhD students and postdoctoral researchers) and provide funding for short research visits to another laboratory, either in the UK or abroad. Aim: to enable researchers to learn new techniques, access specialised equipment, and establish international research collaborations that are not available at their home institution. Deadline: 7 August (recurring)
RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP KICKSTART TRAVEL GRANT (BIOLOGY)
The grants are for early-career researchers, particularly PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, who are looking to take the next step in their research career. support short research visits, training opportunities, or conference travel that help researchers gain new skills or experience. Aim of the grant is to support career development, build confidence, and help researchers establish new collaborations or directions, especially at key transition points in their careers.
